CIVIX: How to Build a State is a series of masterclasses designed for young Ukrainians who want to think critically about the foundations of statehood. Drawing on comparative lessons from Europe, India, Africa, and beyond, the program explores the successes and failures of building nations out of diverse peoples and contested histories. Its aim is to equip a new generation with the intellectual tools to imagine and debate what kind of state Ukraine can and should be—democratic, plural, and European. The program is aimed at high school and university students, especially those eager to link historical and global experience to Ukraine’s present challenges and future possibilities.
