Odessa to the World is a practical, hands-on flagship Cosmopolis programme supporting Odessa-based artists, writers, musicians, and cultural organisations in translating their local artistic languages into forms that are legible, compelling, and credible in international contexts—without losing the specificity of Odessa’s cultural and historical world.
We work with creators to articulate who they are, what they do, and why their work matters across cultural, linguistic, and institutional boundaries—and to present this clearly to the wider world.
At its core, Odessa to the World offers curatorial, editorial, and strategic mediation. Working at the intersection of artist, curator, critic, and institution, the programme supports:
• the development of clear, attractive, and legible websites, including financial support for their first year
• professional artist biographies, CVs, and coherent narrative profiles
• the translation of locally embedded practices into internationally readable frames
• guidance on artistic positioning for exhibitions, residencies, grants, and open calls
• the building of a coherent professional presence across digital and institutional platforms
The programme combines individual, hands-on work with artists and cultural organisations with masterclasses and practical workshops. These address essential but often opaque aspects of international cultural life: pitching work, identifying and applying for funding, approaching galleries, curators, museums, and residency programmes, and navigating institutional ecosystems beyond Ukraine.
Through this process, we help Odessa’s creators present their work with clarity and confidence—making it audible and intelligible without flattening or aestheticising it for export.
By supporting artists and cultural actors in this work of translation and mediation, Cosmopolis shares the richness of Odessa’s art, music, and literature with global audiences, while building durable bridges for international collaboration.
Donations directly support artists and cultural workers in developing websites, professional narratives, and international visibility. A contribution of $200 funds curatorial and editorial support for one artist, writer, musician, or cultural organisation.
All donations should be marked “Odessa to the World.”
